Our Collaborators

Alexander Sutherland Neill

founder of Summerhill School

Freedom means doing what you like, so long as you don’t interfere with the freedom of others.
The future of Summerhill itself may be of little import. But the Summerhill idea is of the greatest importance to humanity. New generations must be given the chance to grow in freedom. The bestowal of freedom is the bestowal of love and only love can save the world.
The function of the child is to live his own life – not the life that his anxious parents think he should live, nor a life according to the purpose of the educator who thinks he knows what is best.
